Notice of Fall Great Rivers Chapter Meeting

October 23 & 24, 2010 Carbondale, IL

The Great Rivers Chapter of the Holly Society of America will meet on October 23 & 24, 2010 in Carbondale, Illinois. Jason Tabor of Anna Nursery has put together a great meeting for us. We look forward to seeing friends and ask that you consider bringing a guest with you. Please note guest ndmes on the enclosed registration form and include payment for guest meals.
On Saturday afternoon we will visit Bon Hartline's home and garden at Anna, Illinois, followed by a tour of Anna Nursery at Cobden, Illinois.

Our Saturday evening dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, Carbondale. We will end the evening with our plant auction, which is a great way to acquire new plants for your garden while supporting our Chapter. Our fall Sprig Contest, highlighting the growing talents of our members, will certainly produce bragging rights for the winners!

On Sunday morning we will tour the campus of Southern Illinois University -Carbondale, which will include a green roof recently installed by the Agriculture Department of SIU-C.

Rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, Carbondale. We have 10 rooms reserved for Friday night, October 22 and 15 rooms for Saturday night, October 23. Information concerning reservations is enclosed.
Please make your reservations early as the rooms will be held only until Wednesday, September 29, 2010.

Saturday, October 23 (maps will be furnished)

• Lunch on your own. There are Houl ihan's and Golden Corral restaurants located very near the hotel.
  
• 11 :30 a.m. Meet in Holiday Inn lobby for registration packets and maps for travel.
  
• 12:00 p.m. Travel to Bon Hartline's home, Anna, Illinois for tour and botanizing
  (approximately a 45 minute trip).
  
• 2:00 p.m. Depart travel to Anna Nursery (approximately a 10 minute trip). 3:30 p.m. Return to hotel
  (approximately a 30 minute trip).
• 5:00 p.m. Social hour in banquet room. This is a chance to botanize and view entries in the Sprig Contest and offerings for the plant auction.
• 6:00 p.m. Dinner
• 7:00 p.m. Announcement of Sprig Contest winners, followed by brief business meeting.
• 7:30 p.m. Plant Auction Sunday, October 24 (map will be furnished) Breakfast on your own.
  There is a Golden Corral restaurant very near the hotel which begins serving breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
  
  Sunday,October 24
• 9:15 a.m. Assemble in Holiday Inn lobby to travel to Southern Illinois University Campus for tour
  (approximately a 10 minute trip).
